•  HOW TO USE: Smart Pot ® Fabric Planters are simple to use. Simply unfold, fill with soil and start planting.  Be sure to water liberally as Smart Pot ® Fabric Planters provide excellent drainage and airflow, so you can’t overwater them. When the season is over, simply empty out the soil and save for next year.
  • The 3-gallon, 5-gallon, 7-gallon, 10-gallon size containers come with cut handles and are just the right size for growing a small-medium amount of garlic, onions or shallots on a porch or patio. These sizes are also good for flowers, herbs or smaller vegetables.

Growing Garlic in Smart Pots – Many of our customers successfully grow garlic in smart pots.  Planting in the winter in the Smart Pot ® Fabric Planters will allow for the water to flow through the pot and prevent freezing water which can cause the cloves to rot and not grow.  The 3 and 5  gallon should plant about 6-12 cloves.  If you purchase 1/4lb. of garlic that will be enough to plant your garlic and possibly have enough to eat a few cloves too.  Plant about 3-4″ apart which is closer that usual planting, so get some extra fertilizer so the garlic is not competing with nutrients.
