A good substitute for Music Certified Organic Garlic Bulbs is German Extra Hardy, Georgian Crystal, Majestic, and Northern White.  These are similar in clove count and robust flavor.

The bulb and clove amounts are ESTIMATES to help you determine how much garlic there is by weight for help with planting and spacing.

Approx. 6-8 bulbs per pound and 30-40 cloves per lb. plants 15-20 linear feet at 6” spacing.

Note: Garlic is an agricultural crop that is subject to crop loss due to conditions beyond our control. This can even occur in the curing stage. We check each bulb before shipping them to you, so if there are any quality issues, we may need to substitute. We rarely need to do this, but it does happen. If it is necessary, we will substitute with a similar garlic, but if you have any comments on this please fill out the comment section like a back up garlic or no substitutions. We still want to get you some great garlic, so please choose how you would like us to proceed with your order if the item you ordered is not available. We do set aside some great garlic in case we do have to substitute garlic!

    I see why this variety is very popular. It’s got tolerable heat and good garlic flavor! Also easy to peel. We will be eating this garlic and saving a few big cloves to plant. The bulbs arrived in perfect condition!

    We are in central Virginia. Keene sent out EXCELLENT bulbs, which we planted in late November, due to an extended bout of hot weather. I added bone meal, our fireplace ashes and a little compost, planted about one inch deep, and covered with about 4-5 inches of straw, then forget about it until they sprouted next spring. The garlic (and the scapes!) taste great and most has lasted and stored well. It’s nice when it works out, but starting with really great bulbs got us on the right path from the beginning. Even though we have great seed garlic from that first harvest, I am ordering more just to insure next year’s harvest. Very happy with Keene Music garlic!

    The Music garlic I purchased from Keene in 2025 was in perfect condition. We grew many different varieties this year and enjoyed them all.
    I tried Music due to all the great reviews mostly on you tube, but didn’t find it our favorite in fact the bulbs were smaller than most at the end of season. We did have a lot of rain and extreme heat which may have contribuated to that.
    We’ve grown German Extra Hardy several years and for us is a better & larger flavor, just our preference.

    I highly recommend growing different varieties to narrow down your own likes! The flavors in garlic Keene offers truly are amazing and you will get a great seed stock to grow with!

    Great garlic Planted bulbs last October & beautiful harvest this July. Drought & hot temperatures this summer so kept it watered. Repeat customer as always great bulbs. We do save some to replant but we can a lot so it’s easier for us to order bulbs to make sure we have enough plus throughout the year. Bulbs store amazingly well. If we still have bulbs left in spring I dehydrated for garlic powder

Small ones I use in recipes and dehydrate then pulverize and make into garlic powder. It’s the best. Everyone who has received it as a gift raves about it, too.
