The answer depends on where you live!
❄️ COLDER CLIMATES ❄️
- Let your garlic rest through the winter—no watering needed
- Especially if you get freezing temps, watering your garlic at this time can be harmful
- In spring, start watering your garlic, aiming for 1" of water per week (including rainfall)
☀️ WARMER CLIMATES ☀️
- Keep your soil moist, but not saturated
- Aim for about 1" of water per week, including rainfall
- If you`re getting consistent rain, you might not need to water at all. Keep an eye on soil moisture to ensure your garlic stays happy!

Ready for homegrown potatoes? 🥔✨
1) Pick a sunny spot with loose, well-drained soil
2) Cut potatoes into chunks with “eyes” and let dry for a day
3) Plant 6–8" deep, 12" apart, in rows 3 ft. apart
4) Cover with soil and add more soil around the plants as they grow
5) Keep water levels consistent, around 1-2" per week

What does this mean? It means that if you plant them this spring, you should be able to begin a light harvest the following spring. From there, asparagus plants can continue to produce for 15+ years!

Your garlic won’t store forever, so continue monitoring it to make sure it’s not getting soft.
NOTE: Even if some bulbs feel firm, others may be getting soft (different varieties store better than others, etc.)
If your garlic is feeling soft, be sure to use it up quickly or preserve it. You can reference our previous posts for more info on preservation methods, including:

• storing in refrigerator
