Description
Purple Creole Garlic Bulbs for Spring Planting
Purple Creole Garlic Bulbs are available this spring for planting. Kept in cold storage to mimic winter to provide the best spring planting garlic. Fall planting is preferred for garlic, but if Mother Nature provides a short cool spring, then a warm early summer, with hot temperatures a few weeks before harvest, they should grow well into nice sized bulbs. If you find that Mother Nature is not cooperating, the bulbs may be small. Even if they are small they are very tasty and will store for many months from a summer harvest. Another option is to harvest them early as green garlic.
Purple Creole Garlic Bulbs are from their own unique Creole family but have cross over characteristics of softneck silverskin and weak bolting hardnecks. They are the rarest of all garlic bulbs. With 8-12 garlic cloves per bulb the bulbs and cloves being held tightly together makes for a great storing garlic despite difficulty peeling. Purple Creole is well adapted to mild winter climates and southern plant hardiness grow zones. Creole garlic varieties usually grow as smaller size garlic bulbs. They don’t grow as well in Northern Regions with small bulbs as a result, but they perform much better in warm regions. Their taste is a true gourmet garlic flavor, and worth growing even if they are smaller in size. Known as the longest storing garlic.
All of our garlic is non-GMO and non-treated. Our garlic is grown organically in the US on small family farms.
