Our onion transplants are dormant when shipped. It is normal for them to be pale & slightly dry due to dormancy & shipping. In fact, onions are very hardy & can live off of the bulb for approximately three weeks. Generally, we recommend planting within one week. These healthy transplants will thrive if well cared for. For your garden success, we have switched from selling potted onion plants to onion transplants .

We ship all dormant transplants beginning in early April. Our onions are well-adapted for mid-northern states. If your region requires earlier planting, consider our Naturally-Grown Onion Sets or you may want to source your onion transplants from a local nursery.
