Fall Garlic Pre-Orders Ship:
September 1st- October 15th
Pre-orders for fall garlic open early March. Reserve the varieties you know you want!
We’ll begin with shipments to Alaska and regions where cold stratification is necessary (southern states, if requested), followed by orders based on region, order date, and efficiency.
We have a short window—about 5 weeks—to ship garlic once it’s fully cured. During that time, we work day and night to get orders out quickly and efficiently, so they arrive in time for fall planting. We’ll continue shipping garlic and shallots until we’re sold out!
If your order contains garlic and fertilizer, we will ship those together unless you indicate otherwise.

I am new to growing —I want to plant garlic—which one is the easiest and do they all get planted in the Fall of the year? Please advise me what do I need to do and when to order—I prefer big garlic and the red stripe garlic—live in Summit, NY. Thank you, Ann Barbara
if I order asparagus crowns, can I specify ship date of late April or early May
Yes, we have several different shipping windows. It sounds like you would want to select the April 20 – May 3 option at checkout.
I did not have good luck with the garlic I planted in October 2024. Many of the bulbs were the size of a green onion and others were smaller than a ping-pong ball. The varieties were Nootka Rose and Early Italian – the beginner’s set for Zones 9 and 10. I thought I followed all of your instructions carefully (preparing the soil, fertilizing and watering) but I must have done something wrong. I live in San Francisco with a mild climate and lots of coastal fog. The average annual temperature is usually between 55 and 65 with no frost and very few warm or hot days. I ordered garlic for an October 2025 planting, but would like to know if you have any ideas why my harvest was so poor.
Hi Lynne, Have you tried fertilization soak before planting and that gives the cloves a good amount of nutrients! Here is the link for information on the fertilization soak
